Spring break in Hawkins, and teenagers are dying again — not from creatures in the woods but from their own worst memories. Vecna, a new and unseen presence, reaches into minds and kills from the inside. Nancy and Robin follow the evidence; Eddie Munson, the sharp-tongued leader of the Hellfire Club, ends up the town's prime suspect; and Max understands, with quiet certainty, that she is already on the list. Across the country, Eleven is in California without her powers, navigating a school she has no defenses for. The Nina Project promises to bring her abilities back, at the cost of confronting everything she buried about her past. Hopper, meanwhile, is alive in a Russian labor camp — and Joyce and Murray are flying halfway around the world to get him out.
