Anthropophagous

Anthropophagous (Antropophagus, 1980) is an Italian horror film directed by Joe D'Amato, available to watch online on iFILM. A group of tourists sailing through the Greek islands gives a lift to a stranger asking for a ride to a remote island. When they arrive, the village is empty. The streets are quiet in a way that does not feel peaceful.

What they find instead are scattered bodies and one surviving blind girl who can tell them what happened — though the knowledge does not help much. George Eastman, who also wrote the screenplay, plays the creature: a man who lost his mind and his humanity in equal measure. Tisa Farrow leads the group trying to get off the island before he reaches them.

D'Amato made the film slow and grimy on purpose, building dread through atmosphere rather than action. The final act is the reason it spent years on banned lists in several countries. Not a casual watch, and the film knows it. Stream Anthropophagous (1980) online on iFILM.
