Synopsis
The Raven (1935) is a classic Universal horror picture you can watch online on iFILM. Lew Landers' black-and-white shocker pairs the genre's two biggest names, Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff. Brilliant surgeon Richard Vollin worships Edgar Allan Poe so deeply that he has built working replicas of Poe's torture devices in his basement.
After Vollin saves a young dancer named Jean on the operating table, he becomes fixated on her. Her father, a judge, warns him off, and the obsession curdles into revenge. Vollin recruits a fugitive whose face he deliberately disfigured through surgery, then lures the whole family into his booby-trapped mansion. Lugosi plays the madman; Karloff plays the scarred criminal he controls.
