Monsters: Dark Continent
Fear has evolved
Synopsis
Monsters: Dark Continent (2014) is a British sci-fi drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Tom Green. Seven years after the events of the first film, the Infected Zones have spread across the Middle East. US forces are deployed there — officially to protect American interests, unofficially because nobody has a better plan. The tagline says "Fear has evolved," and it means it.
Four young soldiers from Detroit are sent into the heart of the infected territory to find a missing patrol. Sam Keily and Johnny Harris lead a cast of unfamiliar faces — a deliberate choice that keeps the film grounded at enlisted-man level, far from generals and strategy rooms. Creatures appear, but they stopped being the main threat a long time ago.
Where Gareth Edwards' original was a quiet road movie about two people crossing an alien landscape, Green shifted registers into military drama — occupation, moral attrition, the cost of a war that has no clear enemy. Uncompromising and at times brutal, it works best as a film about young men breaking under impossible circumstances. Stream Monsters: Dark Continent (2014) online on iFILM.
