Around the same time his mother is hospitalized after a suicide attempt, and Josh moves back in to keep an eye on her. The series talks plainly about depression, clumsy dates, a first crush on a guy and a messy extended family, without ever inflating any of it into melodrama. The humor is quiet and offhand; a single scene can be funny and aching at the same time.
