Marcella Backland rejoins the Met's murder squad the same week her husband walks out on her without explanation. A cluster of connected killings pulls her back into a cold case she never closed ten years ago. She's sharp, relentless, and knows how to crack people — but her own mind keeps betraying her. Blackouts arrive without warning. She wakes up in places she can't account for, sometimes with someone else's blood nearby.
