Superheroes (Supereroi, 2021) is an Italian romantic drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Paolo Genovese, best known internationally for Perfect Strangers. Alessandro Borghi plays Marco, a physics professor who believes everything has a rational explanation. Jasmine Trinca plays Anna, an impulsive artist who considers rules an insult to creativity. Genovese tells their decade together out of sequence — fragments of different years cut against each other so that you piece the relationship together rather than simply watching it unfold. The structure suits the material: love doesn't move in a straight line, and neither does the film. Borghi and Trinca play the couple with enough friction to keep it from sliding into wish-fulfillment.

The film sidesteps grand romantic gestures in favour of the quieter wear and tear of two people trying to stay together over time. That restraint is either its strength or its limitation depending on what you're after — but for anyone tired of love stories that resolve too neatly, it offers something closer to the real thing.
