Synopsis
Mojave (2016) is William Monahan's lean psychological thriller, available to watch online on iFILM. Thomas, a successful but hollowed-out artist, walks away from his life and drives alone into the Mojave desert. He isn't chasing inspiration out there — he's looking for a way to vanish.
By a night fire a drifter named Jack sits down beside him: charming, well-read, and utterly without mercy. What starts as a verbal duel between two strangers curdles into a manhunt back across Los Angeles. Jack becomes Thomas's dark mirror, a reckoning for the empty comfort he left behind. Oscar Isaac plays the killer who quotes scripture and Shakespeare like a desert Mephistopheles, while Garrett Hedlund is the man his own privilege has pushed to the edge. Mark Wahlberg drops in as a sleazy producer, with Walton Goggins along for the ride.
Monahan, who wrote The Departed, builds a chamber noir about two men and the thin line between an artist and a predator. The talk matters more than the gunfire here, and the whole thing rides on the Isaac–Hedlund standoff. Stream Mojave (2016) online on iFILM.
