Kawase films in a slow, tactile register — light, touch, and a voice searching for the right words to fit a fading image. Masatoshi Nagase plays the photographer clinging to his camera as his last link to the visible world, while Ayame Misaki is the young woman whose descriptions he first rejects as too pretty.
