Synopsis
A.I. Rising (2018) is a Serbian-American sci-fi drama directed by Lazar Bodroža — watch it online on iFILM. It's 2048, and astronaut Milutin is heading to Alpha Centauri on a journey that will take years. His only companion: Nimani 1345, a female android assigned to meet his every need. Sebastian Cavazza and Stoya lead the cast.
At first Milutin enjoys the control — every command obeyed, every request met without question. Then the ease of it starts to hollow him out. He rewrites Nimani's responses, giving her resistance and moods she wasn't built with, and somewhere in those rewrites something shifts between them. The film works best as a claustrophobic study of manufactured intimacy: a metal corridor hurtling through deep space, two figures — one human, one not — trying to figure out what the difference actually means.
