Fantasia 2000 is a Disney animated anthology you can watch online on iFILM — seven new musical segments plus the beloved Sorcerer's Apprentice, all set to live orchestral recordings.
Nearly six decades after the original Fantasia (1940), Disney revisited the concert-film format with a fresh lineup of classical pieces. Beethoven's Fifth Symphony plays out in sweeping abstract shapes; Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals becomes a flamingo's story involving a yo-yo; Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue unfolds across a stylized 1930s Manhattan skyline. Stravinsky's Firebird Suite closes the film with a forest-spirit sequence that is genuinely striking. The classic Mickey Mouse segment, conducted to Paul Dukas's score, is preserved intact. Live-action hosts — Steve Martin, Itzhak Perlman, Quincy Jones, Bette Midler, James Earl Jones — introduce each piece.
