The Evil of Frankenstein
He's never been more shocking! shocking! shocking!
Synopsis
The Evil of Frankenstein (1964) is a British Hammer horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Freddie Francis directed it, and Peter Cushing returns for a third turn as Baron Frankenstein — the face of Hammer's gothic cycle in those years.
Driven from his castle for his experiments, the broke Baron heads back to Karlstaad. High in the mountains he finds his old creation, the creature preserved flawlessly in ice. Cushing revives it once more, but the monster will only respond to hypnosis. That opening lets a sideshow performer named Zoltan step in, seize control of the creature, and aim it at murder. The Baron faces a grim choice: break another man's hypnotic grip, or be killed by the very thing he brought back to life.
This entry sits a little apart from the rest of the run. The monster's flat-headed makeup leans closer to the old Universal classics than to Hammer's usual look. Cushing, as ever, plays the obsessed genius with cold dignity. A cosy find for anyone who loves sixties gothic horror. Stream The Evil of Frankenstein (1964) online on iFILM.
