Norsemen (Seasons 1–3)

Norsemen (Vikingane, 2016) is a Norwegian comedy series from NRK that you can watch online on iFILM — and one of the rare shows that actually earns the "Monty Python for Vikings" shorthand people keep reaching for. Set in the coastal village of Norheim around 790 AD, it picks up right where every other Viking saga leaves off: the raiders come home, put down their axes, and immediately get buried in domestic politics.

Chieftain Chieftain Chivik shares power with his brother Orm, who is far better at scheming than fighting. A captured slave with unexpectedly refined artistic opinions keeps offering unsolicited takes on village life, and several women are quietly exhausted by the relentless mead-and-plunder logic the men run on. The show was shot simultaneously in Norwegian and English — same cast, same sets, two complete versions — which gives it an unusually clean comic rhythm regardless of which language you choose.
