Synopsis
Jack Irish: Bad Debts (2012) is an Australian crime TV movie starring Guy Pearce — watch online on iFILM. Jack Irish used to be a criminal lawyer. That version of his life is over. Now he picks up what work he can: part-time investigator, debt collector, apprentice cabinet maker. Melbourne in winter suits the role.
An old client named Danny McKillop tries to reach him. Jack doesn't answer — he's got his own troubles, including a football club he loved that got sold and renamed out of existence. Then Danny turns up dead, and not answering stops being an option. Jack starts pulling at the threads of Danny's past, and whoever buried those threads buried them for a reason. Aaron Pedersen and Colin Friels support Pearce in a cast that keeps the register grounded throughout.
Based on Peter Temple's Jack Irish crime novels, the film gets the character right: a competent man doing the right thing with no expectation of reward. Stream Jack Irish: Bad Debts online on iFILM.
