Two Men in Town

"Two Men in Town" (Deux Hommes dans la ville, 1973) is a French crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director José Giovanni had himself served prison time before turning to crime fiction — he brought that history to a story about whether rehabilitation is real or just paperwork.

Gilles spent a decade locked up for armed robbery. Now a social worker named Formery, played by Jean Gabin, is doing everything to give the man a foothold back in civilian life: steady job, decent housing, a clean start. What Gilles cannot shake is Inspector Gowin — Michel Bouquet as a cop who has decided some people simply cannot change. The film lives in that standoff.
