About

Synopsis

Hagazussa (2018) is an Austrian-German horror film directed by Lukas Feigelfeld — watch it online on iFILM. The fifteenth century, somewhere in the Alpine wilderness. A young woman named Albrun raises her daughter alone in a mountain hut, far from the nearest village. Her mother died of the plague; the locals have decided that makes the daughter cursed too.

Aleksandra Cwen plays Albrun almost entirely without dialogue. The film works through image, texture, and sound — the forest doesn't feel passive, and neither does Albrun's deteriorating inner life. The tagline is "A Heathen's Curse," and it earns that framing slowly and without shortcuts.

Feigelfeld's feature debut lands in the same territory as Robert Eggers' The Witch: slow-burn folk horror where the dread is never external until it has to be, and the ambient score by SSSS is half the horror. If you want jump scares, look elsewhere. If you want something that lingers, stream Hagazussa (2018) online on iFILM.
