Xtro

Xtro (1982) is a British sci-fi horror you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Harry Bromley Davenport and banned in several countries on release, it remains one of the stranger low-budget genre items to come out of early-eighties Britain.

Young Tony watched his father Sam get taken by something in the sky three years ago. His mother has long since moved on — new partner, new normal, the husband written off as someone who simply left. Then Sam comes back. He looks more or less like himself. He isn't. The time Tony spends with his returned father starts changing the boy in ways that are difficult to explain and harder to watch.

The film punches well above its budget on sheer unease, with a handful of scenes grotesque enough to have alarmed censors across Europe. For fans of lo-fi alien horror where the threat comes from inside the family, it holds up. Stream Xtro online on iFILM.
