Retribution (Sakebi, 2007) is Kiyoshi Kurosawa's ghost-haunted crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. A Tokyo detective named Yoshioka works a string of drownings — same method, same stretch of waterfront — until the trail bends back toward him.

Koji Yakusho plays the cop who keeps glimpsing a woman in a red dress. She died long before the killings began, yet she trails him through the city and insists he is the one who did it. The deeper Yoshioka digs, the more the case dissolves into his own buried guilt, and the line between detective and culprit stops holding.

Kurosawa builds dread out of empty corridors, standing water and long, patient takes rather than cheap shocks.
