A Hero

A Hero (قهرمان, 2021) is an Iranian drama written and directed by Asghar Farhadi — watch online on iFILM. Rahim is behind bars for an unpaid debt. He gets a two-day pass and uses it to try persuading his creditor to drop the case. Then his girlfriend finds a bag of gold coins on the street.

He could sell them, pay off the debt, walk free. Instead he returns the bag. Local media turns the act into a feel-good story. A charity campaign launches. People call him a hero. The creditor still won't back down. What Farhadi builds from there is a trap: the more earnestly Rahim tries to do the right thing, the more the story spins beyond his control — on television, on social media, in whispered rumor. Whether his motives were ever as clean as the headlines claimed is a question the film refuses to answer for you.
