El-Turk (Season 1)

Can Yaman stars as Balaban, a Janissary soldier who survives the failed siege of Vienna in 1683, escapes execution, and winds up wounded in a small village in the Italian Alps called Moena.

A local woman named Gloria takes him in. He is a fugitive from two directions — the Habsburg forces hunting him as a prisoner of war and his own past catching up with him in the form of Marco, a knight he once trusted like a brother. Meanwhile the village lives under the boot of a feudal lord who is burning alleged witches and would gladly hand over the Turk. Balaban, recovering but not idle, gradually becomes what no one expected: the village's only real defender. Greta Ferro, Will Kemp and Veronica Ferres round out the international cast.
