Synopsis
The Usurper (La Usurpadora, 2019) is a Mexican telenovela — all episodes available to watch online on iFILM. Sandra Echeverría carries the story in a dual role: Paola Miranda is Mexico's first lady, married to the most powerful man in the country and miserable about it. When she discovers she has a twin sister, Paulina, the solution seems straightforward.
Paola stages her own death, slips away with her lover, and sends the unsuspecting Paulina into the presidential residence at Los Pinos in her place. Paulina knows nothing about state dinners, coalition politics or the enemies Paola made on the way up. She also, inconveniently, starts falling for the president she was never supposed to care about. Meanwhile Paola's plan begins fraying at the edges as someone close figures out the switch. Director Francisco Franco Alba leans hard into the betrayals, reversals and cliffhangers that made the format a Latin American institution.
