Synopsis

For nearly a month the work is quiet and dangerous — back-channel talks, bargaining through go-betweens, long drives across a country where any roadblock can turn lethal. Claudio Santamaria plays Calipari as a man who measures every word, because one wrong move costs a hostage her life. It all narrows toward a night in March on the airport road, where an allied U.S. checkpoint opens fire on the car carrying the freed journalist. Plenty of viewers already know how that drive ended, which only tightens the screws.
