About

Synopsis

Sylvia (2003) is a biographical drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Christine Jeffs. It follows two poets — the American Sylvia Plath and the Englishman Ted Hughes — from the Cambridge party where they first collide. The attraction is immediate, and so is the trouble that comes with it.

Gwyneth Paltrow plays Plath as a gifted writer who loves hard and frightens easily, her anxiety deepening year by year. Daniel Craig is Hughes, whose rising fame and wandering eye slowly hollow out the marriage. The film tracks their life together — children, the struggle to keep writing, jealousy, betrayal — toward one of the most argued-over tragedies in twentieth-century literature. Michael Gambon and Blythe Danner, Paltrow's real mother, appear in support.

There is no verdict here, no tidy blame. The camera just watches intimacy curdle into solitude. It suits viewers who like restrained European drama and already know Plath's verse. Stream Sylvia (2003) online on iFILM.
