Synopsis
The Trip (1967) is Roger Corman's psychedelic drama, free to watch online on iFILM. A TV commercial director, shaken by a divorce, agrees to try LSD for the first time — and the movie spends its runtime inside that experience.
Peter Fonda plays the man at the center. Bruce Dern is the friend who guides the session at a dealer's brightly painted house, and from there the screen dissolves into pure sensation: shifting colors, sudden dread, fragments of memory, faces drifting out of the dark. Conventional plot barely exists. What you get instead is a state of mind, and a camera straining to render it from the inside. Dennis Hopper and Susan Strasberg turn up along the way.
The script came from a young Jack Nicholson, years before stardom. Two years later Fonda, Hopper and Nicholson would reunite for Easy Rider.
