Spree

Spree (2020) is an American horror-comedy-thriller directed by Eugene Kotlyarenko — watch it online on iFILM. The entire film plays out through dashboard cameras, phone screens and live-stream feeds, with no conventional cinematography at all.

Kurt Kunkle has been posting to his channel for five years and has almost nothing to show for it. So he rigs his rideshare car with hidden cameras, goes live, and starts killing passengers on stream — methodically, desperately, watching the viewer count in the corner of the screen. Joe Keery, known from Stranger Things, plays him with no ironic distance: Kurt is pitiful and genuinely frightening. David Arquette shows up as a checked-out father. Comedian Jessie Adams (Sasheer Zamata) becomes the one person in his orbit with the reach and the instincts to actually compete with him.
