Synopsis

Burn! (Queimada, 1969) is Gillo Pontecorvo's political drama, free to watch online on iFILM. Marlon Brando stars as Sir William Walker, a British agent who lands on a fictional Caribbean island to topple Portuguese rule and pry open the sugar trade.

Walker picks a dockworker, José Dolores, and grooms him into the leader of a slave uprising. The scheme works far too well. Years later the same agent is shipped back to crush the very rebellion he engineered. There is no adventure-movie comfort here, just a clear-eyed look at how empires rent out other people's revolutions.

The director of The Battle of Algiers brings that same near-documentary chill to an anti-colonial parable, scored by Ennio Morricone. Brando later called Walker one of his favorite roles. This one dissects the machinery of power instead of entertaining, aimed squarely at fans of political cinema with teeth. Stream Burn! (1969) online on iFILM.
