Synopsis
Squirm (1976) is an old-school creature feature you can watch online on iFILM. A nighttime storm rips the power lines down over the sleepy town of Fly Creek, Georgia, and a live cable dumps its current straight into the rain-soaked ground.
That ground is full of earthworms. Millions of them. The voltage drives them berserk, and the harmless little things boil up out of the soil as one hungry, writhing mass. A visiting kid from New York and local girl Geraldine catch on first, while the townsfolk shrug it off. Director Jeff Lieberman shot it without a frame of CGI: real worms by the thousands, plus makeup by a young Rick Baker, who'd later collect an Oscar. It crawls under your skin precisely because it's all practical.
This is horror from the era when scares were built by hand. Fans of grimy 70s drive-in fare will eat it up; the squeamish should sit this one out. Stream Squirm (1976) online on iFILM.
