Synopsis
Blast of Silence (1961) is a stripped-down crime noir you can watch online on iFILM. A contract killer named Frankie Bono rolls into a freezing Manhattan from Cleveland with one job: take out a small-time mob boss over the Christmas holidays. Two days of work, then gone.
Allen Baron directed it and played Frankie himself — a near-silent gunman whose every thought arrives through a second-person narration that taunts him as "you." He scouts his target, haggles with a sweaty arms dealer who keeps pet rats, and runs into a woman who knew him before. That single thread of warmth is exactly what pulls his murder timetable apart.
Shot on almost no money in the real streets of New York, the picture drifted in obscurity for years before critics dragged it back as one of the meanest late entries in American noir. Lean, bitter, narrated in that icy voice — it rewards anyone willing to dig past the usual classics. Stream Blast of Silence (1961) online on iFILM.
