Synopsis
Dobrinya and the Dragon (Добрыня Никитич и Змей Горыныч, 2006) is a Russian animated adventure you can watch online on iFILM. While the bogatyr Dobrinya is off collecting tribute, the prince's beloved niece Zabava is snatched right out of Kiev.
The prince forbids a rescue. Dobrinya rides out anyway. Tagging along is Yelisei, a clumsy young royal courier head over heels for Zabava and hopeless on the road. The trip throws bandits, a fast-talking horse named Julius and the three-headed Zmey Gorinich at them — and the dragon happens to be Dobrinya's old friend, which makes his loyalty an open question.
Directed by Ilya Maksimov for the Melnitsa studio, this is the second chapter in Russia's hit bogatyr franchise: a hand-drawn folk tale that plays its heroic legend for laughs, with gags aimed squarely at parents as much as kids. Stream Dobrinya and the Dragon (2006) online on iFILM.
