Director Václav Vorlíček and actress Libuše Šafránková gave this Cinderella a very different character: she rides, shoots a bow, and disguises herself as a boy to dodge her stepmother. Pavel Trávníček plays the prince as genuinely charmed and slightly outrun, which is funnier and warmer than any pompous royal.
