Queen

Queen (2014) is Vikas Bahl's Hindi dramedy you can watch online on iFILM. One day before the wedding, Rani's fiancé backs out. A sheltered Delhi girl who has never traveled alone, she refuses to cancel the honeymoon and boards the plane to Europe by herself.

Paris greets her with tears and confusion, until a free-spirited half-French hotel worker, Vijayalakshmi (Lisa Haydon), drags Rani into bars, onto the streets and out of her shell. Then comes Amsterdam — a hostel shared with three random guys, a first strip club, a first drink, a first time standing up for herself. Kangana Ranaut plays the whole transformation without a single false note, from frightened whisper to full-throated laugh.

Bahl didn't shoot a travel postcard; he made a film about a woman meeting herself for the first time in cities where nobody knows her name. The role won Ranaut the National Film Award, and the movie became a quoted-to-death favorite for a whole generation of viewers.
