Synopsis

Yuan Xiangqin has been failing to get Jiang Zhishu's attention since their first day at school. He's brilliant and entirely uninterested. Then an earthquake takes down her house, and her father's old friend — who happens to be Zhishu's dad — takes them in. Suddenly the guy she can't have is down the hall and impossible to avoid.
The film plays its setup straight and trusts the slow burn. Darren Wang's detached delivery keeps the will-he-won't-he from getting unbearable across two hours, and the eventual thaw feels earned rather than scripted.
