Synopsis
Crazy Racer (疯狂的赛车, 2009) is a Chinese black comedy directed by Ning Hao — watch it online on iFILM. Huang Bo plays a washed-up cycling champion who stumbles into the worst possible situation at the worst possible moment.
A body, a disgraced racer, two hired killers, a crew of smugglers, a pair of scammers, and several detectives — none of them know about each other, and all of them keep colliding. Ning Hao builds the film like a mechanism where every part spins in the wrong direction. The humor is dark enough that you are not always sure whether to laugh, and the chaos compounds with each scene.
Ning Hao built his reputation with Crazy Stone (2006), a low-budget caper that became a cultural moment in China. This follow-up is bigger in every dimension: more storylines, more characters, a more elaborate spiral into disaster.
