Synopsis
Fanon (2025) is Jean-Claude Barny's historical drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. It traces Frantz Fanon, the Martinique-born psychiatrist whose writing reshaped how the world talks about colonialism.
In the early 1950s Fanon takes charge of a ward at the psychiatric hospital in Blida, Algeria, and starts treating patients as people rather than case files. His colleagues bristle at methods they find too humane, too strange. As the Algerian war for independence flares, Ramdan of the National Liberation Front approaches him, and Fanon and his wife Josie commit to a cause with no way back. Alexandre Bouyer, Déborah François and Olivier Gourmet lead the cast.
Barny skips the monument and films a man healing minds inside a country where the colonial order was itself the sickness — the whole picture lives in that tension between a doctor's oath and an underground fighter's gun. A Belgium–France–Canada–Luxembourg co-production running 132 minutes. Stream Fanon (2025) online on iFILM.
