Synopsis
The Goat and Her Three Kids (Capra cu trei iezi, 2022) is a Romanian horror-thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Victor Canache and starring Maia Morgenstern.
The film takes Ion Creangă's famous folk tale — the one about the mother goat protecting her young from a wolf — and strips the fairy-tale frame away entirely. What remains is a 19th-century widow, isolated in rural Romania, trying to protect her three children from a former family friend who has become something much colder. Morgenstern carries the film with very few words. This is horror built from dread and landscape, not set pieces, and it works because it takes the original story seriously enough to ask where a tale like that actually comes from.
