Streets of Broken Lights (1998) is one of Russia's longest-running crime series — stream it online on iFILM. St. Petersburg in the 1990s: four detectives work a city that barely funds its own police force, closing cases that the official apparatus gave up on.

Different tempers, different methods, one shared black humor. Alexander Lykov, Alexei Nilov, Mikhail Trukhin, and Sergei Selin anchor the core ensemble; over more than ten seasons the show rotated in dozens of actors, including a young Danila Kozlovsky early in his career. Directors Vladimir Bortko, Alexander Rogozhkin, and Dmitri Svetozarov contributed to different runs. Real St. Petersburg courtyards, unfussy camerawork — no set dressing required.
