The Banks household needs a nanny. The one who responds has her own rules, her own sense of what children actually need, and an absolute refusal to be argued with. Lembit Ulfsak plays chimney sweep Bert with a warmth the character rarely gets in other adaptations. Oleg Tabakov, Larisa Udovichenko, and Zinoviy Gerdt round out the ensemble. The songs by composer Mark Minkov, with lyrics by Naum Olyov, remain instantly recognizable across generations.
