Synopsis
Samozvanets (Самозванец, 2025) is a Russian crime detective series you can watch online on iFILM. Two car thieves, Burlak and Okun, steal a high-end import and find two million dollars stashed in the trunk.
The owners of that cash come looking fast. Okun is killed; Burlak barely gets away. To disappear, he drives out to the remote village of Yam, to the father of his dead partner — a man who hasn't seen his son since the boy was five. Burlak and Okun grew up together in an orphanage, so he knows the life he is stealing down to the smallest detail and slips into it as the late friend. The catch: Fyodor's quiet farm now sits right where a new federal-highway spur funnels heavy freight traffic.
What follows is a long con where a single slip means a bullet. The cast includes Maxim Stoyanov, Anastasia Kuimova and Sergey Varchuk. It's a crime drama about stolen identity, guilt and a family you have to fake your way into. Good for viewers who like bleak stories of impostors set deep in the Russian provinces.
