Synopsis

Cybernetics has erased the line between flesh and hardware. Limbs, organs, even the brain can be swapped for synthetic parts. Major Motoko Kusanagi is almost entirely artificial, an operative for Section 9 hunting a hacker called the Puppet Master. He doesn't break into machines. He breaks into minds, rewriting people's memories at will. The closer Motoko gets, the harder one question presses on her: what is left of a self when the body is manufactured and memory can be forged?
