Synopsis
Stanitsa (2013) is a Russian crime series you can watch online on iFILM. It draws on something that actually happened in a southern village, where a single clan ran everything for years and crushed anyone who got in its way.
Marina Gorobets (Maria Shukshina) travels to the Cossack village of Loshchinskaya to see her daughter. After the divorce the girl was placed in a boarding school, because neither Marina nor her long-haul-trucker father could give her enough time. What waits for Marina there is an empty space — the child is gone. Every thread of her search pulls toward the Volkovs, the family that owns it all here: the land, the money, the police, the fear in the neighbors' eyes.
Nina Usatova, Pavel Trubiner, Maxim Drozd, Sergei Nikonenko and Evgeny Sidikhin play people on both sides of that unspoken power.
