Synopsis

Something to Talk About (1995) is an American comedy-drama directed by Lasse Hallström that you can watch online on iFILM, with Julia Roberts, Dennis Quaid, Robert Duvall, and Gina Rowlands heading the cast.

Grace King runs her father's horse farm in the American South, and her life looks fine from the outside. Then she catches her husband Eddie with another woman — in the middle of the street, in front of half the town. She moves into her sister's house, starts questioning whether the marriage is salvageable, and slowly realises she's been deferring to everyone around her for years. Her father expects obedience. Her husband expects forgiveness. Grace stops giving either.

Screenwriter Callie Khouri wrote this two years after Thelma and Louise, and the same nerve runs through it — what happens when a woman decides to stop performing contentment. Rowlands and Duvall are both sharp in supporting turns that could have been thankless. Stream Something to Talk About online on iFILM.
