After botching a case, Mystery Inc. hangs up the magnifying glass — until Vincent Van Ghoul tracks them down with unfinished business. Years ago, Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby caught twelve ghosts and locked them in the Chest of Demons. The thirteenth one got away. It's still out there, and the gang has to finally close the file.

The film is a direct callback to the 1985 animated series The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, answering a cliffhanger that sat open for over three decades.
