Synopsis
Shoot Out (1971), a Western led by Gregory Peck, is available to watch online on iFILM. Directed by Henry Hathaway, it sets up a clean revenge plot and then quietly pulls it off course.
Clay Lomax walks out of a Kansas City prison after seven years for bank robbery. He could have shortened the sentence by naming his partner, but he kept his mouth shut. Now he wants one thing: the man who shot him in the back during the heist. That former partner, sensing trouble, hires three gunmen to shadow Lomax's every move. And when Clay goes to collect the money he left with an old flame, he finds instead news of her death and a six-year-old girl said to be his daughter.
Hathaway, the man behind True Grit, reunites with Peck on familiar frontier ground but trades shootouts for the awkward business of a gunfighter raising a kid. The child is a nuisance, underfoot and impossible to ignore, and slowly becomes the one thing that might steer Clay off the killing road. It's the rare Western where the final duel matters less than who the hero becomes afterward. Stream Shoot Out (1971) online on iFILM.
