Synopsis

Beneath a Raccoon City mansion sits the Hive — Umbrella Corporation's vast underground lab. Someone deliberately releases the T-virus there, and the staff don't last long. A commando unit is sent in with Alice (Jovovich), a woman who woke up with no memory of who she is, and field agent Matt (Eric Mabius). Their mission: reach the bottom level, shut it down, get out. The Red Queen — the facility's AI — has already decided that nobody leaves.
Anderson builds the film around tight corridors, dead ends, and a laser security grid that solves the overpopulation problem in one memorable sequence. Rain (Rodriguez) keeps the team moving long past the point she should. The movie launched a six-film franchise and turned Jovovich into the defining face of 2000s action-horror.
