Synopsis
What Planet Are You From? (2000) is a sci-fi comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Harold comes from a planet of men who feel nothing and breed by procedure. The mission sounds easy: land on Earth, find a woman, father a child, fly home.
The catch is that Harold (Garry Shandling) runs on borrowed charm and canned pickup lines, and the body part his engineers installed hums whenever he gets nervous. He works his way through every woman he meets until he hits Susan (Annette Bening) and feels something his species has no word for. On his trail the whole time is a dogged FAA agent (John Goodman) who knows this new guy is wrong somehow.
Mike Nichols directed, with Ben Kingsley, Greg Kinnear and Linda Fiorentino rounding out the cast. The humor is deliberately awkward, pushed right to the edge of bad taste, and underneath it sits a plain idea: feeling is scarier than feeling nothing. Stream What Planet Are You From?
