Planet of the Apes (Season 1)

Colonel Alan Virdon and Major Pete Burke — Ron Harper and James Naughton — go on the run together. Their one ally is Galen, a young chimpanzee played by Roddy McDowall, who crossed straight over from the movies. Hunting them is Urko, the gorilla security chief (Mark Lenard), while the ruling orangutan council would rather these visitors from the past simply vanish. Town by town the trio searches for a way home and quietly plants the dangerous idea of freedom among the humans they meet.

The show grew out of the 1968 film and Pierre Boulle's novel but found its own shape — a road story across an alien world, stretched over a single fourteen-episode season.
