Synopsis
The Last Rifleman (2023) is a war drama starring Pierce Brosnan that you can watch online on iFILM. Artie Crawford has just buried his wife when he slips out of his Northern Irish care home without telling a soul.
Past ninety, he sets off across the Channel to France for the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings — determined to stand again on the beach where he once fought and to make peace with the comrades he left behind. The trip wears on him: strangers, old ghosts, and a guilt he has carried since 1944. A French woman (Clémence Poésy) crosses his path, and the front-line years keep surfacing in flashback.
Director Terry Loane keeps the story small and unshowy, loosely inspired by the real veteran who went AWOL to attend a D-Day commemoration. Brosnan is a long way from Bond here, playing a tired, stubborn old man with none of the polish. It's one for viewers who like quiet films about memory and war.
