Before (2024) — watch it online on iFILM — puts Billy Crystal in territory no one expected from him. He plays Eli Adler, a child psychiatrist recently widowed and barely holding his practice together. The setup is small and domestic. Then it gets strange.

A troubled boy, played by Jacobi Jupe, turns up in Eli's caseload and somehow knows things about him that no child could know. The show releases this mystery in doses — eight tight episodes that trust the viewer to fill in the gaps. Judith Light and Rosie Perez round out the cast.
