Synopsis
Franklin (2024) — watch online on iFILM — is Apple TV+'s eight-episode historical drama with Michael Douglas playing Benjamin Franklin on a secret diplomatic mission to Paris. The year is 1776, the American Revolution is hemorrhaging troops and money, and Congress sends its most famous citizen across the Atlantic to charm the French into joining the fight.
Douglas plays Franklin as a 70-year-old man who is tired, vain, and brilliant in equal measure — not the marble-plinth Founding Father. Noah Jupe co-stars as Temple, Franklin's grandson and reluctant secretary, who witnesses the negotiations, the court intrigue, and his grandfather's very human flaws up close. Director Tim Van Patten brings meticulous period detail to each episode — Versailles politics in powdered wigs, not sword fights.
