Synopsis
I Love You to Death (1990) is Lawrence Kasdan's based-on-a-true-story crime comedy — watch it online on iFILM. The premise is absurd because it actually happened: an Italian-American pizza shop owner cheats on his wife so freely and for so long that when she finally finds out, she decides killing him is easier than filing for divorce.
Kevin Kline plays Joey Boca, a man so cheerfully unfaithful he barely seems to notice the problem. Tracy Ullman is his wife Rosalie, who teams up with her mother (Joan Plowright) to poison, shoot, and generally dismantle her husband by any means available. None of it works. The hired help — Keanu Reeves and William Hurt as a pair of spectacularly stoned contract killers — makes everything considerably worse.
The film works best as a showcase for how badly a murder can go when everyone involved is either incompetent or too fond of the victim to finish the job.
